報(bào)告摘要: To construct a parallel approach for solving orthogonally constrained optimization problems is usually regarded as an extremely difficult mission, due to the low scalability of orthogonalization procedure. In this talk, we propose an infeasible algorithm for solving optimization problems with orthogonality constraints, in which orthogonalization is no longer needed at each iteration, and hence the algorithm can be parallelized. We also establish a global subsequence convergence and a worst-case complexity for our proposed algorithm. Numerical experiments illustrate that the new algorithm attainsa good performance and a high scalability in solving discretized Kohn-Sham total energy minimization problems.
報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介：劉歆，中國(guó)科學(xué)院數(shù)學(xué)與系統(tǒng)科學(xué)研究院，副研究員，國(guó)家優(yōu)青獲得者。2004年本科畢業(yè)于北京大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)科學(xué)學(xué)院；2009年于中國(guó)科學(xué)院獲得博士學(xué)位，導(dǎo)師是袁亞湘院士。畢業(yè)后留所工作至今。期間分別在德國(guó)ZIB研究所、美國(guó)RICE大學(xué)、美國(guó)紐約大學(xué)Courant研究所進(jìn)行過(guò)長(zhǎng)期訪問(wèn)。主要研究方向包括正交約束矩陣優(yōu)化問(wèn)題、線性與非線性特征值問(wèn)題、非線性最小二乘、分布式優(yōu)化算法設(shè)計(jì)。2014年12月入選中國(guó)科學(xué)院數(shù)學(xué)與系統(tǒng)科學(xué)研究院“陳景潤(rùn)未來(lái)之星”計(jì)劃；于2015年7月起擔(dān)任《Mathematical Programming Computation》編委；2016年8月獲得國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金委優(yōu)秀青年科學(xué)基金；2016年10月中國(guó)運(yùn)籌學(xué)會(huì)青年科技獎(jiǎng)；2017年2月入選中國(guó)科學(xué)院北京分院“啟明星”優(yōu)秀人才計(jì)劃；2017年7月起擔(dān)任《計(jì)算數(shù)學(xué)》編委。
